Christ Covenant Fellowship is a Reformed Baptist congregation. What does that mean exactly? Here are a few ‘distinctives’ that set us apart:

  1. Expository Preaching: We believe that expository preaching (i.e., preaching chapter by chapter and verse by verse) is one of the most faithful ways to proclaim the Scripture. This means that we pick up each Sunday wherever we left off the week before. Occasionally, Pastor Matthew will preach a topical sermon (or, a series of topical sermons). Nevertheless, the steady diet of the church is the faithful exposition of the Word- What does it say? What does it mean? How do we apply it?
  2. The Five Solas: The Protestant Reformation circulated around five core doctrines that became known as “The Five Solas.” At CCF, these doctrines are at the very foundation of what we believe and how we teach. They are:
    1. Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura)
    2. Faith Alone (Sola Fide)
    3. Grace Alone (Sola Gratia)
    4. Christ Alone (Solus Christus)
    5. Glory of God Alone (Soli Deo Gloria)
  3. Simul Justus et Peccator: This Latin phrase also came to us through the Reformation and means “simultaneously sinner and saint.” While we are declared righteous in Christ, the struggle of sin remains a reality for the believer until we are fully conformed to the image of Christ. Therefore, CCF is a place where it is ok to struggle, ok to heal, ok to be broken. We are a family and we’re in this together.
  4. Confessional: While the church has adopted the Baptist Faith & Message as our congregational confession of faith, our leaders have also adopted the historic 1689 2nd London Baptist Confession.  This was the confession of our Baptist forefathers, including Charles Spurgeon, and continues to be a source of rich doctrinal clarity and heritage.
